Know the Meta: Geargia in January 2014

A couple formats ago, if you had told me Geargia was not only going to be really good, but a Tier 1 contender, I would have looked you as if you were crazy. Sure, the deck can easily pump out OTKs, but its reliance on a pseudo-flip effect is what ultimately barred it from entering the competitive scene (besides a small stint at YCS Toronto 2012). However, now it is blatantly apparent that this deck is indeed a force to be reckoned with. With a combination of field-filling combos and a large wave of hype (due to its recent YCS win),  Geargia may finally have their time to shine.

Meta Analysis: YGOrganization's 2nd Online Tournament (Jan 2014 Post-LVAL)

Before I begin, I'd like to thank the wonderful people over at YGOrganization for helping me aggregate all of this data. There is an absurd amount of high quality content over on their site and I highly recommend that you check them out as soon as possible (if you haven't already). I'd also suggest joining the next YGOrganization tournament if you get the chance; these always seem like a blast for all parties involved. Anyways, onto the meta analysis.  The 2nd YGOrganization tournament was held under the new January 2014 banlist and included cards from the Legacy of the Valiant set (only the cards the TCG is going to receive). To kick things off, we'll take a look at the meta for this tournament as a whole.

Know the Meta: Mermails in January 2014

Hey guys. Welcome to the first installment of Know the Meta.  Right now we’re in a lull in terms of the competitive scene until YCS Sydney so I’m going to continue the YuGiOh analysis with some theory-oh!  Today, I'm going to discuss everyone’s favorite critters from the deep, Mermails, for the upcoming January 2014 format! We'll take a look at the potency of the deck, issues the deck faces, and the plethora of strategies a smart duelist can utilize to combat these nasty fish.

Effect Veiler in January 2014

Hi guys!  This has nothing to do with tournament/meta analysis (that will come once the format actually starts).  Rather, it's a bit of theory-oh regarding Effect Veiler, a hand trap that many people haven't seen in main decks since March 2013 format.
